CORNWALL The Reverend Paul Martin Harris, 96, husband, father, grandfather, United Methodist Pastor, born March 31, 1916, died July 24, 2012, at Cornwall Manor in Cornwall. He was born March 31, 1916 in Pen Argyl. He is survived by his wife, Jane B. Harris of Cornwall; children, Priscilla Yagel of Harrisburg, Sharon Brucker (Eric) of Aston, Joanna Stewart (Steve) of Lewisberry, Deborah Harris of Lewisberry, and David Harris (Penny) of Palmyra; grandchildren, Matthew Brucker (Debra), Mark Brucker (Jenny), Jennifer Brucker, Kirk Yagel, Jessica Yagel, Gregory Stewart (Kristin), and Jeremiah Harris (Paulina); and great-grandchildren. Over his 50 years in the ministry Reverend Harris served Methodist churches and United Methodist churches across Eastern Pennsylvania: Tannersville Circuit; Catasauqua Circuit; Steelton Circuit; Eddystone; Mt Zion, Darby; CC Hancock, Springfield; and even after retirement, Crozierville and St. Mark's, Broomall. He was a pioneering advocate for the access, rights, and dignity of people with hearing loss. He founded support groups in Delaware County (DELHOH) and in Lebanon County (LEBHOH) which became chapters of the Hearing Loss Association of America. He organized innovative Summer Getaway weekends for the hard-of-hearing for 10 years. In 2006 he was the Hearing Loss Association of Pennsylvania's recipient of the Marcia Finisdore Award for his untiring and inspired work. Memorial services celebrating Paul's faith and life are planned for 2:30 p.m. Sunday, August 5, at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, 1500 Quentin Road (Route 72), Lebanon, with visitation beginning at 1:30. A luncheon will follow the service.
